Robert Laverock began bagpiping at the age of ten and has been playing for the last sixteen years. He is an active competitive bagpiper in both band and solo events nationally and internationally. His training includes the College of Piping in Glasgow, the Balmoral School, and the North American Academy of Piping. Amongst his mentors are Robert G. Richardson, Mike Cusack, Donald MacPhee, Jerry Finnegan, and Bob Worrall. Robert has taken second place in MSR at Metro Cup (2002), first in MSR and Piobaireachd at the Southwest Quaich (2005), among numerous other awards achieved in the USA, Canada, and Scotland. Robert has played with Lothian and Borders (Edinburgh, 2001), the Hamilton Pipe Band (Houston, TX), and Manchester Pipe Band (Manchester, CT), as well as serving as pipe major of Ballentyne Memorial Pipe Band (Dallas, TX) and North Texas Caledonian Pipes and Drums (Dallas, TX). Robert currently resides in Atlanta, GA where he plays with the grade 3 Atlanta PIpe Band. Robert has played for George W. Bush, Rod Stewart, the Chieftains, and Harpoon Breweries, as well as in numerous weddings, funerals, birthday parties, and St. Patrick's Day celebrations.
