MUSIC

The heart and soul of bagpiping is traditional music: piobaireachd and "light" music. Piobaireachd is  bagpiping classical music (grounded in a slow formal theme followed by complex expressive variations). "Light" music includes marches, strathspeys, jigs, reels and slow airs (many are upbeat and accessible). I play (and teach) the full range of traditional music. Outside of traditional music, I am well versed in hymns and popular music (those that are accessible for the bagpipe's range and key).
